My ART:
What does it mean to me “to embellish my art”?
A definition might be
- to make more beautiful with ornamentation
- to increase attractiveness with decoration and fanciful details
To me beads and embellishments are about a deeper meaning. Embellishing an art quilt or cloth figure captures my attention, my “spirit" and brings joy to the creative process.
The glitz and glitter of beads and sequins add joy to my work. My work sparkles with JOY and reflects the delight I feel in life.
My desire is that the viewer will not just see the work but feel the joy.
That is why I sign my work

About Me
- Embellished Spirit
- I have been creating art for as long as I can remember. In fact, I loved the “art room” during my school days so much that I grew up to be an art teacher. I received a Masters Degree from the College of Design, Art, Architecture and Planning at the University of Cincinnati. Which makes me a BEARCAT Fan! I went on to spend 32.7 years in public school art education, the last 21 years in a middle school art room. My current works of art include bead embellished art quilts, figurative art in cloth, mostly Mermaids, elaborate clothing and accessories. My art dolls have been published in Soft Dolls and Animals July 2004 Quilting Arts Magazine Summer 2003 and Summer 2005 Art Doll Quarterly Winter 2007 Doll Crafter and Costuming March and May 2007 I am an active member of the Contemporary Quilt and Fiber Artists, the Weavers Guild of Cincinnati and I have been a member of River City Figurative Artists' Guild for eight years.
