Each year the Ft. Thomas Library

has an event called

Art After Hours

This year I was one of 16 artists asked to participate in the event.

MERMAIDS OF SUMMER

Continuing the mermaids. . . 

The first mermaid

OH SO BLUE

Is an original design in a pose I've 

wanted to try since I began making mermaids.

The second mermaid

ICE GLIDER

is made of lace collaged over

a muslin form and painted in a pearl color.

FUN WITH CREATIVE MACHINE STITCHES

Stupendous Stitching 

by Carol Ann Waugh

is one of the latest books I've 

added to my collection.

The book is designed to walk you through several techniques combining the decorative stitches programmed into your sewing machine 

and decorative hand stitching.  

I had a great time with this small 14" by 20" quilt created on hand dyed fabric.

Pictured here is the quilt in full from the front and the back and several details. 

I also embellished with buttons, and used a fused decorative binding for the boarder.

I'm looking forward to creating another 

quilt using this book and I really recommend it for your collection!
