2014 HOFFMAN FABRIC CHALLENGE

Hoffman Fabric Challenge
For the past 25 years Hoffman Fabrics has offered a challenge where entries that are accepted travel throughout the year to quilt shows, textile shops, museums and libraries.
Each entry must include a recognizable amount of the challenge fabric.
This years challenge fabric was a wonderful blend of deep indigo background, flowers and colorful mandala designs.
In the past I have always created art dolls for my entry.  2014 is the first time I have entered a quilt.
My design is based on the ornate shrines of
Our Lady of Guadalupe
that are so often seen in Mexican Art.
My entry is Titled
Our Lady of the Garden
The art is quilted with machine decorative stitches and was created in a fused appliqué technique.  I spent hours fussy cutting the flowers and mandala designs that are printed on the challenge fabric and positioning them into the shrine.
Pictured here is a slice of the challenge fabric and the quilt from the front and back including the quilt label.
ENJOY!
